Inside the $400 million prison where Bill Cosby is expected to serve his sentence

Published

American stand-up comedian, actor, musician, author, and convicted sex offender William Henry “Bill” Cosby Jr known as Bill Cosby is expected to spend the next three to 10 years of his life in a new $400million Pennsylvania state prison while serving out his sentence for drugging and molesting a woman more than a decade ago.

The comedian, 81, was sentenced Tuesday after his April conviction for having drugged and sexually assaulted Andrea Constand, a former Temple University women’s basketball administrator, in 2004.

Cosby is expected to serve out his sentence at SCI Phoenix in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, although he will spend the first few days of his prison sentence at the Montgomery County Jail outside Philadelphia, according to a spokeswoman for the Montgomery County district attorney’s office.

Cosby will then be taken to SCI Phoenix, where staff will assess his physical, medical and security needs.

The prison is brand new, and said to be state of the art.

But Cosby might find himself in for a shock, as inmates have told The Inquirer the facility, which opened on July 9, had ‘limited access to water’ and the state’s most restricted telephone policy.

SCI Phoenix is a maximum security, 3,830-bed, handicap-accessible, state-of-the-art prison which began operating earlier this year.

The $400million prison is staffed by 1,200 full-time employees and features 164 acreage inside its double ring of razor wire fences and a 1.5mile perimeter.

Among the prison’s program offerings are sex offender treatment, victim awareness and impact of crime classes.

If he’s deemed at risk because of his celebrity or as a risk to others, he’d be held in solitary confinement, spending most of the day alone in his cell.

Otherwise, he’d likely share a two-person cell, leaving for meals, exercise, counseling and other activities. He’d be free to bring a personal tablet for music or games but wouldn’t have internet access, corrections spokeswoman Amy Worden said.

The cells have bunk beds and storage lockers, as well as a stainless steel toilet and sink combo and a small desk and stool.

Unlike older prisons, SCI Phoenix’s manual key locks have been replaced with electronic cell doors monitored from a central location.

Immediately after his sentencing, Cosby was escorted from the courthouse and into a dark SUV before being taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

As a s*xual orientation, homos*xuality is “an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic, and/or s*xual attractions” to people of the same s*x.

Well, the world is going in a direction where more people are coming out confidently to proclaim that they’re homos*xual.

Inasmuch as this ‘act’ is accepted and even legalized in some countries, it is seen as a gross sin in our part of the world for that matter unacceptable.

By far, it is believed that those who are homos*xuals are possessed by demonic spirits.

It is at the back of this that a family is said to have allegedly sent their son to church for the spirit of homosexuality to be burnt from him.

In the viral photos on social media, one can see a giant candle combusting on top of his head.

And it is kind of believed that as the candle burns, the homos-xual demons are also burnt away.

Well, checks by celebritiesbuzz.com.gh indicates that the condition of this man above could be due to distended stomach — a medical condition.

What is a distended stomach?

A distended stomach is a term usually used to refer to distension or swelling of the abdomen and not of the stomach itself.

When the term is used in this manner, a number of different diseases and conditions can cause abdominal distension.

These conditions can be related to digestion, such as malabsorption or lactose intolerance, or to disturbances in bowel function, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or constipation. Bloating is another term that is sometimes used to refer to a swollen belly.

Consumption of high-fiber foods can lead to intestinal gas and bloating. Less commonly, ovarian cysts or other types of tumors can cause the appearance of a distended abdomen.

The accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, known as ascites, can cause the appearance of distension.

Ascites has a number of causes, including cirrhosis of the liver.

A distended stomach (abdomen) can be associated with other symptoms, including:

  • belching,
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever, or
  • abdominal pain.
