A midwife who delivered a pregnant woman of a baby while on board an Accra-Bolgatanga bus has been honoured by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) of Ghana.

Ms Sophia Safia Sulemana, a midwife at the Kunkwa Health Centre in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the Northern Region was part of the 2017 newly inductees of the N&MC that were inducted into the health profession on Monday in Accra.

She was said to have delivered the pregnant woman of a baby boy at 3:00am while on board the bus on Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Background

  • The trained nurse who put her expertise to play while in a Bolgatanga bound passenger bus has been hailed by many after she went to the rescue of a woman and delivered her.
  • Sophia Safia Sulemana delivered an expectant mother from Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Northern Region while the vehicle was in motion.
  • The woman in question was on her way to Tamale for antenatal because her time was due in a fortnight only to start experiencing some pains along the way which suggested she was in the process of giving them.
  • Nurse Sophia Safia Sulemana who is a staff Midwife at Kunkwa health centre in the Mamprugu-Moaduri District on sensing that something was amiss, offered to help and rushed to her rescue, asked for space and professionally delivered the woman to the shock of other passengers.
    • Another passenger only identified as Mawunyo Bubutor who was on board the bus, shared this in a post;“Nursing is said to be a science, skills and an art. At 3:34 am of 23rd September 2018. Whilst travelling to Bolgatanga, a lady was in labour on the bus whilst the bus was still moving. It took the intervention of this spectacular angel and who is a practicing midwife on board to deliver this woman in the bus. The driver has to stop for the midwife and two other female nurses to help deliver this woman on the Buipe Road. I just wanna celebrate staff Midwife by name Sophia Safia Sulemana of Kunkwa health centre in the Mamprugu Moaduri district of the Northern Region. The child and the mother was later handled over to the husband who took the wife to West Hospital in the Tamale metropolis. God bless you????????????????????????. Please let us share this good story”

Radio Host, Captain Smart Proposes Marriage To Another Woman

Adom FM presenter, Captain Godsbrain Blessed Smart ignites controversy. He is the host of the station’s socio-political talk show “Dwaso Nsem”.

He surprised the many people who attended this year’s 3G Awards. This is because he proposed to an unknown lady.

The controversial morning show host amidst some beautiful songs and surrounded by family and friends, went down on his knees beautifully and placed the beautiful ring on the hands of the lucky lady.

However, this move by him has tongues wagging. Many people question whether it was a stunt to add spice to the award ceremony. This is because Smart is married.

Moreover, Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong last week revealed that the relationship Captain Smart had with a married woman in Germany resulted in the death of the woman’s husband.

According to Mr Agyapong, Smart had an amorous relationship with a married woman (Afia Pokuaa) in Germany and the husband of the woman later passed away due to a broken-heart.

“The evil that men do lives after them. Captain Smart, you will live to regret the death of this innocent man”

$100,000 ‘bribe’ we paid to stop Anas video was returned – Nyantakyi’s wife

The wife of embattled former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has confirmed that her husband did pay to prevent the screening of the documentary that has become the downfall of the once football administration ‘tycoon’.

Christine-Marie Nyantakyi told Metro TV’s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show that, before the screening of the investigative film, “Number 12,” some persons approached them with the demand to pay $150,000 for the film to be tossed.

She added that Mr. Nyantakyi could not afford the figure and paid a bargain, $50, 000 less to the persons they believed to be from the camp of the undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team.

Tiger Eye on June 5, however, went ahead to air the documentary that brought the nation and the football community worldwide to a standstill. British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) also aired the documentary few days later.

The Number 12 film revealed how Nyantakyi had misconducted himself and engaged himself in acts of “bribery and corruption,” for which the world football governing body, FIFA has banned him for life.

He also faces a possible prosecution in Ghana.

Anas has denied that he or his Tiger Eye team ever approached Mr. Nyantakyi for a bargain.

Speaking to Paul Adom Otchere on the GEG show, Mrs Nyantakyi revealed that the money her husband paid to stop the airing of the documentary has since been refunded.

They brought $40,000 first; and then later on, they brought $60,000 dollars,” she said.

“I have not gathered the courage to watch the full video, because the small that I watched, I knew that the way he is talking; that is not my husband; something might have gone wrong,” she revealed.

The Number 12 video also highlighted other football administrators including referees and National Sports Authority (NSA) officials, most of whom have already suffered fates similar or equal to Nyantakyi
